- The Rainbow / Steelhead Trout are popular targets and can be caught throughout the year in the Greater Niagara Waters. Although October through February Steelhead fishing does not get any better anywhere then the Lower Niagara River, this is the top Steelhead fishery period. Drift fishing with egg sacks, imitation eggs or live bait such as minnows are the way to go. The record Steelhead is 31lb. 3oz. and 12 - 20lb fish are most common. These chrome leapers are in abundance, they often break water and our one of our most exciting fish to catch. This trip leaves from the scenic boat launch in Lewiston, this will be an experience you won't soon forget.
